In the Meantime: Between Combat and Death

Death is a goddamned disgrace.

It has no respect

for beauty or for wit

or for a lifetime

of survivor’s experience –

so why should I show

any respect for it?

          Death will catch me

          in due time,

          but until then

          the time is mine."
